Opinion:
I think that it would be smart to wait to collect social security until a later age because the potential returns that you could get would be much higher. I also know that when people have the opportunity to get money, they usually won't pass up the chance, so a lot of them will collect as soon as possible. If you can hold off claiming benefits for a few years, your potential income could raise 6.7 percent. Its going to be better if you are able to hold off on getting your social security benefits and you most likely wont regret the decision.
If you save well and plan far enough ahead, doing what you suggest would not be a problem. However for many people it would be because a large number of people tend to live paycheck to paycheck and would be unable to wait.
ReplyDeleteI think that if some one can afford to wait to collect they should. They'll have more money and be better off plus then they earned that extra money. Making more money for not waiting too much longer then 65 is a good deal. Money gives most people an incentive so I think more people would do this if they know it was a possibility.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Kirsten. I think most people will wait to collect their money later so they can get some extra money. People would do anything for some extra money.
